It was my daughter’s fourth birthday party this week and she wanted a mermaid party! She also wanted everyone to get a mermaid tail.
I made these super easy mermaid tails for each of the girls at the party. I just bought some awesome pink sparkly thick spandex which I sewed in a tube and then put an elastic on the top.
I cut tulle into 6″ strips x the length I wanted, doubled. Then I folded each tulle strip in half and sewed a 1/2″ away from the fold. Then I threaded a 1/4″ elastic (that was cut to the same width as the bottom of the mermaid tail) through each of the tulle strips, gathered them until it was about the same as the width of the bottom of the pink part of the mermaid tail and sewed it on. Easy peasy!
The girls loved their tails and felt so special for the party!
