American Quilting Retreat 2014

It’s time to SHAKE A LEG and sign up for the 2014 American Quilting Retreat:

This year’s theme is Sew Vintage. We will have a SWELL time remembering what life as a housewife was like in the  ‘30’s thru the ‘50’s.  We will learn about some of the tools, notions, and patterns that were used back then. Now don’t get the HEEBIE JEEBIES, not all of the classes will be old school.  We will offer some modern items for the SNAZZY people as well.

This year’s retreat will again be located at the SWANKY Zermatt Resort in Midway, Utah, March 18 – 21, 2014. The sewing room doors open at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday and we will wrap up by 8:00 p.m. Friday night.

Registration begins Monday, November 4th, 2013. Please send a check for $50.00 written to Under the Garden Moon (my pattern company) as a non-refundable deposit to hold down your spot right away!  Bring it by the store or mail it in:  American Quilting, 426 West 800 North, Orem, UT, 84057. Watch your email for further registration information in December.

Towards the end of November we will send you a pattern to make your own NIFTY sewing table mat.  This mat lays under your machine (which helps absorb some of the bounce from the table) and hangs over the edge with some pockets to store your sewing accouterments in!  Choose some NOBBY fabric to enhance your workstation. It will be fun to see everybody’s personalities in the fabrics you choose.

As in year’s past we will have our SPIFFY hexagon and tumbler exchange station.  This year we will trade Gracie fabrics (prints from the ‘30s) or civil war fabrics.

We will also have the “swap meet” table for any of you that are KEEN on clearing out your clutter.  Bring any of your orphan stash, tools, patterns, books, kits, whatever you are no longer using to donate to the table. Then during the retreat you can pick up some JUICY new-to-you items.

Please bring any quilts you may have from this era for Show and Share. We’re sure you’ve got some treasures that are as CUTE AS A BUG’S EAR!

Cost for the retreat is based on the number of people you have in your sleeping room
4 people – $385 each
3 people – $420 each
2 people – $460 each
1 person – $635
