Better machine quilting.
I have been sewing for over 40 years. At some point I decided what skills I wanted to master and after trying some other skills decided that I didn’t want to bother with them. The only technique I would be interested in if I could find instruction would be English Knotting. I had a hankerchief (of which I wish I had taken a photo of) that my grandmother gave me that got lost at my daughter’s wedding this past year. She told me what it was called but I can’t find any info anywhere on that.

I would really like to learn more about batting, ie. the difference between loft and woven, which to use why, when, and where. How is the oz. weight on a batt calculated and what does it mean to a quilter? What is preferred for baby quilts, bed quilts, wall hangings or tabletoppers? What is the distance recomended between stitching lines on each type of batt?

Where do I start? I would love to learn scalloped edge binding as well as “perfect binding” (the one with the string). I’m not sure what the best way to bind is yet but those are a few variations that I’d love to learn.
