A sewing machine can be a big investment. And sometimes it lets us down. And sometimes it is our fault because we aren’t taking care of it properly! Hopefully if we put it in the time to take care of it we won’t have to swear at it quite so many times.
Here are some suggestions:
* Change your needle often! Some suggest after every 4 hours of sewing.
*Clean your machine regularly, after every project if you can. Follow the instructions in your manual for cleaning out the lint, oiling the machine, loosening or tightening screws, etc.
* Take your machine in for a check-up every 2 years to an authorized dealer or sewing machine expert.
* Be sure to wind your bobbins correctly. Clip all tails before inserting it into the machine and use bobbins made specifically for your machine!
* Cover your machine when it is not in use. This helps keep dust and other things floating around out of the machine.
