I decided my house needed a little bit of spring-time color so I started playing around and came up with this fun colorful wreath. Enjoy!
Spring Fabric and Felt Wreath Tutorial
Supplies:
Wreath form (I used styrofoam but you could use whatever you want)
About 6″ x WOF of a colorful printed fabric
Felt (in a coordinating color to your print)
Hot glue gun
Step 1: Cut your fabric into strips between 1″ – 2″ wide (mine were about 1 3/4″). You will probably need 3 strips, depending on the thickness and size of your wreath form.
Step 2: Cut circles out of your felt. I probably cut 25-30 circles in differing sizes between 2″-3″.
Step 3: On the backside of your wreath form put a good-sized amount of glue. Stick the end of your fabric to it.
Step 4: Start wrapping the fabric around your wreath, overlapping as much or as little as you want. Periodically put a dab of glue on the wreath form to make sure the fabric sticks and stays in place.
Step 5:When you get to the end of your fabric length cut it so you can glue it on the backside of your wreath. Glue it well. Then glue a new piece on and continue wrapping.
Step 6: When you have wrapped the entire wreath cut the fabric so it ends on the backside and glue it down well.
Step 7: Now for some embellishing. I chose to add a little bunch of felt flowers. Grab your felt circles. Put a little glob of glue in the middle of the circle and scrunch it up, holding it until it dries or stays scrunched. Repeat with all your felt circles.
Step 8: Glue your first scrunched circle on the side of the wreath. Continue gluing the felt circles across and up the wreath until you have covered as much of the wreath as you want. You can pack them tightly or loosely – whatever look you prefer!
Now go hang it on your door or your mantle and start getting excited for springtime!
