I love this time of year… if you can overlook the getting cold part (which can be hard some days!). I love getting ready for Thanksgiving and that means that Christmas is basically around the corner. To celebrate I decided to make a Pom Pom Garland for my mantel.

It was fun and so easy that I thought you might want to make one too!

Pom Pom Garland Tutorial

Supplies:

Yarn, (whichever colors you want)
Large Needle

 Step One:

Wrap your yarn around three of your fingers (or, for smaller pom poms – less fingers).

Wrap about 70 times. You want it in between tight and loose — don’t cut off your circulation, people!

Step Two:

Gently ease your yarn bundle off your fingers, trying to keep it together as best you can. Cut it from the skein, or the ball of yarn from which it was being wound.

Step Three:

Cut a piece of yarn about 8 inches long. Wrap it as close to the middle of your bundle as you can.

Knot it as tightly as possible.

Step Four:

Insert your scissors through the loops on one side of your bundle and cut them.

Repeat on the other side. You now have a lop-sided pom-pom!

Step Five:

Rotate your pom-pom, trimming it until it is spherical and looks how you want it.

Step Six:

Thread a large needle. Poke the needle into the middle of your pom-pom and pull the yarn through. Continue to thread pom-poms until your garland is as full as you want it.

And voila! You have a festive pom-pom garland.
